Dr. God

When I was pregnant with my first child, my hubby and I went through Toys R Us to create a baby registry. We were absolutely clueless to everything we needed, and to all the new gadgets that were out in the world to take care of children. I had been a babysitter all of my high school and college life, and the explosion of new products for children had gone wild.

We walked around the store with glee scanning in the items we needed. Carseat, check. Stroller, check. High chair, check. Crib, check. All of the major necessities. I watched a nearby lady who was more pregnant than myself who looked like she knew what she was doing, and she was scanning things I had never heard of…. diaper cloth warmer? What?! We were now going to warm the cloths before wiping our children’s little behinds? Ok, check, I guess I’m on board with this. My husband just shook his head knowing he would not win this battle.

Feeling anxious, I went up to the lady and asked her for help. “Could you please advise me what else I absolutely need for my newborn/toddler?” I whimpered. She looked at me, with a look of a wise older lady, and walked a few aisles over pulling items off shelves. Pacifiers of particular brands, pajamas that were flame retardant, and the final item… the Boo Boo Bunny! I raised my eyebrows questioning this ridiculous purchase? Really? Why in the world would I need a Boo Boo Bunny? She reassured me, that when little ones had even the slightest boo boo, they would want something to make it better. I shrugged my shoulders and tossed the little bunny in the shopping cart. Another sigh from my hubby.

What I didn’t realize at that time, was I had met a genius in regular clothing. When my daughter was little, the tiniest scrape to her little finger or knee would create bigger than normal tears that rolled down her sweet cheeks. I would want to fix her boo boo’s quickly, and for some reason, this tiny little Boo Boo Bunny was the answer. All Hail the Boo Boo Bunny!

As my daughter and son got older, they didn’t always want the Boo Boo Bunny because it was embarrassing to use in front of their friends. So sadly, the bunny was retired. However, that didn’t mean they didn’t get bumps, bruises or even wounds to the heart from someone at school.

Adults have Boo Boo’s too. In fact, if truth be told, many of us would probably carry around a bunny if we could, but society frowns upon that.

I have found that the only true comfort for my aching boo boo’s and heart is God. Only he can take our sadness and make us feel happiness again. Only he can take bitterness and create sweetness. Only he can take a broken relationship and mend it, and strengthen it until it is stronger than it ever was.

Give your hurts to Dr. God. He is with you always. Call on him when you are hurting, when you have questions, or just need a friend. He is the true Doctor!

Blessings Sweet Friends!

Stacy
