About Stacy

I have been a teacher for 25 years. I taught elementary, middle grades, and now I work at UNC-Greensboro in the Elementary Education department as a lecturer and supervisor to the junior and senior teams.

As a teacher, I became very aware of the many students who did not have a hunger for reading. It became my goal to build a desire in children to want to read. I realized, it began with me as a reader. The students needed to see that I had a love of reading too, or they would not buy into what I was selling.

I began to do weekly read-alouds to my students in different genres, in hopes that they would make a connection with something I was reading. I would do Friday Book Blessings and share some of my favorite books, reading some of the best excerpts to the children. I loved to listen to them beg for more reading.

As the children’s love of reading grew, their fluency began to grow as well. Therefore, when I decided to write books, I wanted to make sure I made them filled with adventure and life lessons that would help the readers grow in good character.

What’s Next?

My next book, Dear Teacher, I’m Watching You will be coming out this spring! It is an adult suspense novel being published with Shine-A-Light Corp.

Readers are asking…Is there a follow up book to Good One, God?

Yes there is!! I can’t wait to share it with you!

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift.” — Kate DiCamillo
